Is it safe to get a Tooth Veneer done??
Firstly, if you’re asking this question you are troubled with the look of your teeth mostly. By look I mean either the shape, size, color, gap etc. You’re not alone!
Gone are the times when people were okay looking ordinary. You always want to look good and your teeth play a huge role in how you look as we build connections while we talk face to face, we make our first impressions with the way we dress up and smile. Let’s face it, an ugly gap between the front teeth, tooth fluorosis making the teeth brown and mottled or a broken front tooth/ teeth looks bad.
Mostly you have been living with that appearance until our 30’s but then post that when you enter your prime in your careers and jobs you want the best for yourself.
One sudden moment you look at your photograph from the party last night and you feel something isn’t looking good in the way my smile is. The next morning you end up looking into the mirror while brushing and think I wish I could do something about the look of my front teeth.
You read the word Tooth Veneers and you want to know more. Here I am to tell you more.
Q. What is a Tooth Veneer?
A tooth Veneer is a covering given over your tooth to change its appearance after trimming the front surface of your tooth by nearly 0.5mm just so that your enamel which is the protective covering of your tooth is not removed completely ( that is around 2mm in thickness).
After trimming a digi scan of your mouth or a manual impression helps us to get a replica of your tooth which is printed using a 3D printer.
A veneer made up of a material called LiDiSi( Lithium di silicate) popularly known as E-Max material is fabricated In a dental lab over the printed 3d model by baking under high temperature furnace in the form of thin shells which are then fixed to your tooth with a colourless material.
Points taken care are:
Matching the shade or color of your neighbouring teeth to give a lifelike appearance using a dental shade guide. Having a good ideal tooth shape to close and gap, get rid of any fluorosis stains, any chipped edges etc.
Q. What is the cost of a Tooth Veneer?
An E- Max veneer would cost anywhere between 11-20k per tooth.
Q. Are there any cheaper options available for Tooth Veneers?
A smile design specialist would give you a hand done composite veneer instead of an E-Max or porcelain veneer by working on it manually instead of baked shells from the lab. They are equally good but would require maintenance and touch ups in 3-5yrs depending upon your hygiene and habits.
Q. Does it harm to get a Veneer done?
No, a Veneer needs only around 0.5mm of enamel removal out of 2mm and hence causing no discomfort or sensitivity after the process as that too is finally covered with the Veneer.
